Viigo, the Canadian maker of a content mobilization platform, says it’s secured its first round of funding. It’s not disclosing the amount of the round, only saying its total funding from angel and VC investors is now at C$6.4 million (US$6.3 million), and that the round was led by Canadian VC firm Ventures West. Viigo’s platform allows publishers to offer their existing web content to mobile users, and it also offers a consumer application with over 2,500 channels of content users can view on their handset. The company was founded by three of the founders of Plazmic, a maker of content development tools for BlackBerry devices that was bought by Research In Motion in 2001. (Release)
