Comcast (NSDQ: CMCSA) is getting ready to launch Fancast Mobile, a mobile application which will allow users to watch live programming on your phone, and schedule recordings on your DVR, reports Gizmodo. Earlier today, Gizmodo wrote about how Comcast was expanding its Fancast video download store, and dismissed it as “unremarkable” until it found out about the mobile piece. There’s not too many details right now, but one thing that is for certain is that it will work on Sprint (NYSE: S) phones. We’re guessing this may have to do with Comcast’s impending relationship with Sprint and Clearwire (NSDQ: CLWR) as a future investor in the combined WiMax venture. It’s not surprising that it’s not available on the iPhone since Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) has been particular about services that may compete with its plans for iTunes.

Gizmodo said Fancast Mobile will support basic Comcast services on your phone, such as watching an unspecified amount of live programming and scheduling recordings and maybe—in later releases—SlingBox-like streaming. You can also rate movies and buy tickets on Fandango, and possibly it will allow you to also use your TiVo (NSDQ: TIVO) remotely and update your Netflix (NSDQ: NFLX) queue.
