Clearwire Demonstrates Live Streaming Video Over WiMax

At Clearwire’s event celebrating the launch of its first mobile WiMax market in the U.S., it provided a number of live demonstrations to get a sense of what a wireless 6 mbps download was really like. From a townhome right on the river that runs through the city, Clearwire (NSDQ: CLWR) showed how you can stream TV over the Internet from a site like Hulu.com to a laptop with an embedded WiMax chipset. The laptop was connected to a large, roughly 40-inch, flatscreen TV. The streaming quality was impressive, and a video of it can be found on our YouTube channel. However, to really test the networks strength, you have to text it while it’s mobile. To show the mobility of the network, Clearwire attached Web cameras to the front of various Portland commuter trains and streamed live footage over the Internet. Here’s a video so you can get a sense…it does stutter and break up a bit, but that is because the train goes through a tunnel.
