CBS Interactive Launches Mobile Version Of MaxPreps.com
CBS Interactive (NYSE: CBS) is taking its MaxPreps.com high school sports website mobile. A new version of the site lets visitors submit scores from their phones; users will also be able to access the site’s info on thousands of teams while on the go. In a sign that there’s probably a big market for this, MaxPreps.com has signed on the Air Force as a sponsor for the new mobile site.

The news comes two months after CBS gave the site a big boost by signing a deal with Sports Illustrated to prominently put MaxPreps content on SI.com. It also replaced high school and college sports network Takkle as the power behind the magazine’s Faces in the Crowd feature in both print and digital. In a release, CBS says that unique visitors to MaxPreps.com have risen 77 percent to 1.8 million since a year ago; Compete.com figures show that much of that increase came last month. CBS bought MaxPreps.com in March 2007 for $43 million.
