@ Billboard: iPhone Not A Game Changer?

Near the end of a late-afternoon session, Jupiter Research’s Julie Ask tossed a yes-no question to her panel: is the iPhone a game changer? The response may be a tad surprising given the hype and great expectations for the phone due this June—no one came close to a yes (and a couple missed the word limit):
—Mark Bole, CEO, ShoZu: No.
—Jason Krikorian, Co-founder/EVP, Business Development, SlingMedia: It depends on how open Apple is.
—Ian McCarthy, VP, Product Marketing, Orb Networks: No.
—Craig Thole, Director, Value Added Services, Boost Mobile: No.
—Jeremy Welt, VP, New Media, Warner Brother Records: I don’t know.

Krikorian was asked if Sling is working on a mobile version for the iPhone. He said he wasn’t sure Apple would allow it. Later, he said a version isn’t underway and that he wouldn’t blame Apple for starting out limited.
