Ben Goldhirsh Hives Off Good Digital; Invests Multi-Million Amount; Helio’s Shapiro To Run It

Ben Goldhirsh, the 27-year old founder of Reason Pictures and Good Magazine, has hived off a new digital division (technically a separate company) called Good Digital, and has invested an undisclosed “multi-million dollars” into it. The new group will focus on extending the online presence of the film and magazine groups, create original programming and invest in early stage tech/content companies that help benefit Good’s mission. Bernie Goldhirsh, Ben’s father, was the founder of Inc. magazine and died in 2003…see this WSJ story for background.

The new company, based in Los Angeles, has named Craig Shapiro as President of Good Digital...Shapiro was previously the head of content at mobile network Helio, and also spoke recently at our “iPhone & Beyond” seminar in LA.

Bernie Goldhirsh died in 2003, not 2006.
