The Australian Recording Industry Assocation (ARIA) has teamed up with Motorola to launch an ARIA-branded handset in Australia, the attraction being “a new music button on the main menu, allowing direct access to the Motorola ARIA Chart from your mobile phone at all times, wherever you are”. It’s a strange move, I can’t see the brand being attractive to many people—ARIA didn’t generate as much ill-will in fighting digital copyright infringement as RIAA did, but it definitely didn’t score any points. It might be targeting the music industry, I guess… The handset is the Rokr Z6. (release)
