Atlantic records has tied up with ShoZu, a mobile video social network provider, to launch a more aggressive artist marketing scheme. As part of the agreement select Atlantic artists will be equipped with ShoZu-enabled mobile phones, allowing them to capture and upload photos and videos to their fan sites, as well as MySpace pages and other sites using ShoZu’s technology. The artist content can be embedded in blogs, sent to an opt-in fan email distribution list or repurposed as free or paid promotional content created exclusively for the mobile channel. The deal follows a trial of the technology over New Year’s Eve, when Atlantic artists Gnarls Barkley, Panic! At the Disco and Paolo Nutini used ShoZu-enabled phones to upload concert footage to YouTube during the New Year’s Countdown promotion. Press release
