Steve Jobs has returned to his job as CEO after recovering from a liver transplant during a seven-month long medical leave. “Steve is back to work. We are very glad to have him back,” said Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) spokesman Steve Dowling.

Bloomberg reported that Jobs will be working both at the company’s offices in Cupertino and at home. Last week, the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute confirmed that Jobs underwent a liver transplant at its facility and that the pancreatic cancer survivor has an “excellent prognosis.” The statement was posted on the hospital’s web site by Dr. James D. Eason, who received permission from Jobs to make the disclosure.

Jobs’ return to work is important for investors, who very much consider him the company’s visionary, however, while he is gone COO Tim Cook filled Jobs’ shoes, and by many accounts did a good job, and may play a bigger role within the company going forward.
