AP Launches Two Youth-Oriented News Sites On Virgin Mobile USA

If teens don’t read newspapers, perhaps they’ll keep up with the news on their phones, or at least that’s what The Associated Press is hoping with the launch of two new youth-oriented mobile Web sites on Virgin Mobile USA (NYSE: VM) handsets. Both “AP Entertainment” and “CUBI,” which stands for Can You Believe It? are accessible on the VirginXL deck. The AP Entertainment site provides coverage of films, TV and music news, and includes celebrity photos and gossip. CUBI provides links to the latest odd ball news stories from around the world. The ad-supported sites appear to be acting like a lead generator of sorts for AP’s broader Mobile News Network, which has international, national and local news. The AP said today that the mobile site received more than 26 million page views in September.
