CTIA: AOL Launches Revamped Mobile Services

AOL (NYSE: TWX) is using CTIA to launch a new range of mobile services (new for AOL, I mean). It has revamped its WAP site with new mobile versions of AOL Search and AOL Mail, MapQuest, CityGuide, Moviefone and some new content…also the myAOL service (like the desktop one) and AOL Shopping Mobile, a comparison shopping service. It’s also letting CTIA attendees trial an early version of AOL MyMobile, a customizable downloadable application which offers pretty much the same services via a carousal interface. Finally, AOL has added some mobile services to AIM: A short code service for people on Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Alltel (NYSE: AT) networks which gives AIM functionality via SMS, and a WHERE mobile widget called “AIM Buddy Finder” which allows people with Alltel to set and share their locations with their AIM buddies from their GPS-enabled phones…that shows up on a MapQuest map.
