Alltel has launched a service to make it easier to side-load music to some of its phones, as possibly yet another example that the biggest impact of the upcoming iPhone won’t be on handset manufacturers but on encouraging the telcos to change their music sales practices. The application, Jump Music, is by Frog Design which gets a lot of kudos in this Gizmodo article. The service is initially compatible with 5 phones (LG AX8600, MOTOKRZR K1m and MOTORAZR V3m, Samsung u520 and The Wafer by Samsung) and will allow you to transfer any music you have onto your mobile phone. It also allows easy connection to eMusic along with 35 free songs.
