Alltel Adds Spanish-Language Programming From Univision And GoTV Networks
Alltel Wireless (NYSE: AT) is adding Spanish-language programming to its offerings by securing deals with both Univision’s Movil and GoTV Networks’ Es Musica video channels. Univision’s Movil will feature popular shows from the network along with clips from award shows and sporting events. GoTV’s Es Musica includes live-event coverage, music videos and more on everything from Latin pop to rock, hip-hop and reggaeton. Carriers are eager to offer more Latin entertainment to serve increasing demand from Latinos in the U.S. It’s an interesting addition for Alltel, however, since the carrier could be under the arm of Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) in 12 days when the FCC votes on Verizon’s plan to acquire the fifth-largest carrier and its 13 million customers. Release.
