A&E Mobile Channels Go to Sprint

A&E Television Networks has signed a deal with MobiTV for its made-for-mobile channels A&E Mobile and History Channel Mobile, which is the first place they’ll get a run. The business plan involves both license fees and advertising—A&E have already started selling ads for its WAP pages, but mobile TV is more complicated because there’s more companies involved in offering the service, and therefore more companies looking for a slice of any revenue. “Programming on AETN’s mobile channels include History Channel series such as “Dogfights” and “Modern Marvels” and A&E shows including “Dog the Bounty Hunter” and “Criss Angel Mindfreak.” AETN also is offering text messaging, ringtones and wallpaper” notes TV Week.
