Adobe (NSDQ: ADBE) CEO Shantanu Narayen confirmed during the company’s second-quarter conference call last week that the company is close to releasing a beta version of its Flash Player 10 in October for a number of smartphone browsers, including Windows Mobile, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Android, Palm (NSDQ: PALM) WebOS and Symbian.

CNet reminds us that this was the company’s goal, according to statements they made back in February at Mobile World Congress in Spain, but it’s good to know the company is on track. Of course, the obvious omission in the list continues to be Apple’s iPhone. In the past, Adobe executives have stated that it is working with Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) to make Flash work on the iPhone, but it will come out on a separate time table. Adobe’s goal with Flash is at first to more easily allow Flash-based content for the internet, such as videos and animated ads, to seemlessly work on the phone, but eventually, Adobe wants to use Flash to make it easier to develop content for the three screens—mobile, PCs and TVs.
