3 has launched a website intended to be a community-built guide to mobile resources, available online (next.three.com) and on the mobile web (3next.mobi). The site, neXt, is intended for users of 3’s X-series users but since its on the web its available to people on any network in any company. It’s good that it’s open, not just because it’s easier but as more people use the mobile web it creates a flow-on effect to their friends…as the tide comes in all the boats rise. The website will cover mobile-optimized websites, applications and will have social features like the ability to rank applications according to how useful people find them as well as the option to suggest applications that users think should be promoted through the neXt website. “At launch the website will include social networking applications from Jaiku, mapping services from Mapsolute, a mobile- optimised version of Wikipedia from SevenVal and a photo-upload and handset backup service from Shozu” reports Net Imperative.
