3GUpload Gets $20 Million Investment; Buys MoPhone
Close on the heels of 3GUpload‘s acquisition of Bill Bryant’s Mophone, the company has just closed a $20 million funding from VantagePoint Venture Partners, which is also one of the investors behind the popular social networking site, MySpace. 3GUpload, a direct to consumer mobile entertainment company, will combine with Mophone and will relaunch under a new brand. Bill Bryant will serve as CEO of the newly expanded 3GUpload. [Via Press release]
SeattlePI: Later this spring, the Seattle-based company will unveil a new name and a new mobile music service that will allow fans of various artists to post concert photos, comments and other content from their cell phones. More community-oriented features will be added later this year. About half the recent financing round will be allocated for acquisitions.
